The forecast called for rain, so when the first flurry appeared there was much rejoicing from three little people under my roof. Steve and I knew it wasn't supposed to last.
But it kept on coming--the first snowfall of the season.
And in just a few hours, white covered the entire landscape.
In one day, everything changed.
This happens in our lives as well, though we don't always recognize it.
One day takes you from single to married.
From married to mama.
From renter to home owner.
From in debt to debt-free.
Think of it--the power of a day!
And it's like this in more subtle motherhood ways as well. I can remember thinking that my children would never:
- potty train
- feed themselves
- dress themselves
- read
- stop that awful screaming
- and so much more
The phases of motherhood seem never ending at times, but I've found that when you're almost certain you'll be diaper changing your 15-year-old, snap--one day comes that changes everything.
One phase ends...and another begins.
What to do in the meantime? In the midst of a hard season?
Keep up your courage, smile, laugh, cry sometimes (let's be honest, ladies), guard your thoughts, persevere.
Parenting isn't convenient, and it isn't for cowards. But you're not a coward. You are a bold, fearless, world-changing woman--influencing future generations. Hang in there, and wait for your one day.
It's coming soon.
“When you get into a tight place and
everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold
on a minute longer, never give up then,
for that is just the place and
time that the tide will turn.”
