our barn/office - love this space!
Ever wonder what a mommy blogger does on the day her book launches into the world?
Here's my day in the life from last Monday...as seen through my iPhone photos:
8:45 am - Give the kids breakfast, all the while answering questions like "Are we going to have a party to celebrate your book?" and "Will there be cake at this party?" and "What kind of cake?" (You know, the important things to sort out.)
9 am - Head to my office (aka the barn) to work for the morning. Steve worked from home so that I could have extra focused work time.
9-12: Work on several posts for the week, respond to emails, lots of social media time on Twitter & Facebook chatting about #mindsetformoms
12 pm - Starting to feel brain dead from too much screen time; Head back inside for lunch with Steve and the kids.
1 pm - Feel the need for a change of scenery.
1:30 pm - Enjoying an offline break at the library. I browse and check out plenty of new books to read to the kids.
2:30 pm - Arrive at my other office (aka Starbucks). Treat myself to a blueberry muffin just because! Check email and begin other book promotion/post writing/ social media stuff.
3:30 pm - Check in on Amazon to find the above! Call Steve to share and do an inner happy dance.
5:30 pm - Arrive home and become a popular mama when I unveil my surprise load of new books.
6 pm - Sit down to a dinner of spaghetti with broccoli that Steve made (love that man!)
8 pm - Before the kids go to bed we enjoy a fire in our 200-year-old fireplace.
And there you have it--a simple, wonderful day in this mama's life.
Speaking of the book, I'm happy to announce the winner of the mind-body-spirit giveaway:
Kiasa, who said,
"My mind is in need of deep cleaning. All those negative thoughts have got to go! I'm loving Mindset for Moms; it's helping me a lot. I rarely enter giveaways, but this one....I need this one!!!"
Yay, Kiasa!! Look for an email from me soon.
To those of you who didn't win check out these special offers:

Today I'm wrapping up my book launch week with an awesome giveaway for mind, body and spirit.
One sweet mama will win all of the below--a $175 value--yay!
* a PDF copy of my new book, Mindset for Moms

These titles include:
- A Complaint-Free World by Will Bowen
- The Jackrabbit Factor: Portal to Genius by Leslie Householder
- The Path by Lori Beth Jones
- The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

This e-course, created by my talented friend Heather Bruggeman, begins Feburary 6th.
The workshop will teach and speak to a mostly plant-based diet, but is not exclusively vegan or vegetarian.
Each week focuses on a separate whole foods topic that will be explored broadly and deeply--using a multi-media approach, engaging lessons, and encouraging contributors.

my idea journal--you need one, too
Two years ago I shared the story behind Steady Days. The idea for that book came from my husband.
The idea for Mindset for Moms, on the other hand, came from the bathtub. Well, I mean I was taking a bath at the time.
I had been tossing around the thought of writing an e-book for a while, but didn't want to do it unless I had a unique message that I also had the experience and passion to write about.
Getting out of the bath, I put on clothes and came rushing to my desk--thoughts for all the chapters streaming from my mind. I grabbed my journal and started writing furiously to get it all down before it escaped me.
I knew it was an inspired idea.
I used to think ideas were hard to come by. Now I realize that by thinking that way I pushed some of them away.
A mother's intuition provides constant feedback throughout our day. I believe it is part of the way in which God speaks to us, giving the guidance we so desperately need.
But if you're like me, you've rationalized and analyzed that little voice away. When our mind is constantly racing with a million thoughts we miss the ideas that come.
Pay attention to your inspired ideas. They contain the fuel for an inspired life.
