My connection with author Rae Grant is one of those stories that testifies to the fun power of the blogosphere.
I had discovered one of Rae's previous books, Crafting Fun, on Amazon. I bought it and loved it. (And for a "non-crafter" like me, that is saying something.)
A few weeks later, imagine my surprise when Rae's name appeared in my email inbox. She had found my blog and was getting in touch to see if I would be interested in reviewing her books--and of course I was!
Rae's books truly are works of art, reminding readers of a balanced, slower-paced time of life. A gifted designer and illustrator, she combines amazing retro images with easy, family-based activities.
Her newest title, Homemade Fun: 101 Crafts and Activities to Do with Kids, is divided into six sections: Sewing and Embroidery, Papercrafts, Jewelry, Baking, Building Things, and Toys, Games, and Pastimes. Each section contains simple activities with step-by-step directions.
Included are projects like a tooth fairy pillow, simple bookmarks, salt dough beads, busy morning biscuits (we tried these with great success!), a coffee can bird feeder, and musical water glasses.
If you haven't discovered Rae's work before, then you are in for a treat!
Rae's publisher is giving away copies of Homemade Fun to TWO Steady Mom readers.
