Yesterday we discussed a technique to boost our mothering enthusiasm. Today, let's check out a tool to help us get organized. In Steady Days I call it a Steady Home Planner.
I've heard this tool mentioned around the blogosphere by many savvy mamas. Tsh of Simple Mom writes about it and so does Mandi of Organizing Your Way.
Its popularity just goes to show how helpful a planner is to "keeping it all together" as a mother.
Here's how I describe it in my book:
"Soon after beginning my career as a mother, I felt frustrated with the number of items I referred to regularly throughout my day: my calendar, to-do list, address book, shopping lists, cookbooks, and more.
I wanted everything together in one place where I could quickly access it.
This led to the creation of my Steady Home Planner, a binder in which I have inserted what I want and need to help me have Steady Days.
My binder stays put in my kitchen so I can refer to it multiple times every day. I like knowing exactly where to find important papers when I need them.
There’s nothing fancy about the Steady Home Planner. It’s a standard binder with dividers inside. Yet I would be ill equipped to handle what life throws my way without it. I would also be less patient with my children if I hadn’t found a method that works for me."
Steady Days goes on to give step-by-step instructions on how to create your own planner--with suggestions for sections you might want to include.
And just for fun, I created a Steady Home Planner to share with one of you!
