(Please check out the comment Jim Trelease left in response to yesterday's post, and head over to his website for more great info on reading aloud!)
After yesterday's post it seems like a good time to reveal our newest addition to the family: an incredible, floor-to-ceiling bookshelf in the living room.
The morning after I put the books in their new spot Jonathan and Elijah spent 20 minutes side by side reading - I just love those little men.
I've decided to use our old bookshelf in the dining room for art supplies. Previously I kept these under lock and key (too many fears of marker all over the walls!). But as the kids get older I want them to have more freedom to access certain supplies: scissors, glue sticks, paper, crayons, etc. (The paints still reside in a child-proof cupboard.)
Steve said it was a bit OCD of me to line up the drawing pads on the bottom shelf for this photo. No, they haven't looked like that since, and probably never will again.
This new art space has been a success so far (although I am going to spend a lot more time sharpening colored pencils!)
How do you organize art supplies at your house?
