Don't you love it when you discover a cool, creative toy? That's how I felt when I found PlayFoam. Um, I say I found it because, well, it was in my basement. Someone (Thanks, Rach!) gave it to us a long time ago. I put it downstairs to save for a special occasion, and then promptly forgot about it. Until last week, and now I'm here to sing its praises!
PlayFoam is similar to Playdough, but with a very different texture (think rice krispies in your hands). I found myself playing right along with the kiddos. I really love that it isn't messy. Unlike MoonSand, which seems to get everywhere, we used this without any cover on the table. And it doesn't dry out, so it stays very pliable. You wouldn't want to give it to little ones who are still in the 'put everything in my mouth' phase. The manufacturer says it is for the 4 - 10 year range (I'm sure older kids could make more detailed creations).
Our PlayFoam came in six different colors. And yes, they did get smooshed into one blob eventually. But that's okay. Elijah made his into a big ball, which he then threw around the dining room. (He was loving this, as typically we have a 'no throwing' rule inside.) Jonathan made a pizza to go with his imaginary pizza parlor. And Trishna made one seriously long row of cookies.Does anyone else have ideas for using PlayFoam or something similar? Let us know!
Have a wonderful weekend - and stay warm out there.
