Months ago I was browsing Amazon for an attractive, simple crafting book. I wanted something easy - because crafts are not my strength.
As I flipped through the search results, I was drawn to the title Crafting Fun: 101 Things to Make and Do with Kids by Rae Grant. I loved the colorful, vintage illustrations and the simplicity of the crafts inside - including waxed paper leaves, natural dyes for Easter eggs, and firefly lanterns.
Since then the book has been pulled off our shelf many times. Trishna loves imagining and planning what we might make next. I like that the crafts will not be overly time-consuming.
Cooking Fun, another book by Ms. Grant, mirrors Crafting Fun in its ease of reading and colorful layout. Some of the recipes include potato pancakes, traditional macaroni and cheese, and chicken and rice soup.
Last week we experimented with the recipe for Mom's Breakfast Coffee Cake - it was a huge hit!
Rae Grant is currently working on the third book in this series. She blogs at My Little Hen - you can read more about these two titles on her website.
And, Rae has offered to give two lucky Steady Mom readers a copy of one of her books!

And the winners are...
For Cooking Fun:
Melissa M said, "These books sound like a great way to pull off something creative when we are stuck inside this winter!"
For Crafting Fun:

Cee said, "While my daughter seems to have a natural creative streak, I am not crafty in the least. I've tried knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, all with no luck. I love reading about other people's craft projects, but need all the help I can get when it comes to crafting with my children."
Thanks for entering, and thanks to Rae Grant for this giveaway!
